A Former Mail Shop User Converts to Midnight and Doesn’t Look Back – Part 3/3

“Midnight is like Mail Shop on steroids.” This pronouncement was made by Direct Connection founder John Hodgman after his company migrated from Virtual System’s legacy system to our recently updated Midnight Print & Mail v. 6.0. Not only did Midnight improve efficiencies, resulting in a return on investment of less than a year, but the Dynamic Job Board enhanced project scheduling and communications in ways Mr. Hodgman and his staff hadn’t imagined possible.

In addition to these benefits, Mr. Hodgman discussed with us three other aspects of the Midnight system that he found worth the expense and effort of the migration:

  1. Cloud-Based. Midnight does many of the things that Mail Shop does, such as estimating, invoicing, scheduling, and project management, but the cloud-based structure of Midnight is one of the best features. “We can go in and check on the status of a project from anywhere and any device, which makes everything easier. Whether someone is in the shop or across town, they can get the job status and other information they need.”
  2. Inventory Tracking. Direct Connection had always used the inventory tracking feature in Mail Shop, but “We can now track inventory so much better than before. We use it both for client and in-house inventory management. For example, we have a print and mail client that we send out postcards for on a regular basis. We print 50,000 cards them mail 10,000 each week for five weeks. The inventory tracking feature allows us to schedule the reorder, or in this case reprint, of the stock before we run out. It keeps everything moving and puts the print job into our system so our schedule is maintained. From a scheduling standpoint, this is just great. We don’t have delays in projects because we ran out of a supply. We always restock and reorder prior to shortages so there is no disruption in our jobs and our clients stay happy.”
  3. Customer Support. Hodgman admits that this positive aspect is true for both Mail Shop and Midnight, but the amazing support staff is truly a great feature of all Virtual Systems products. As he explained, “They are always available to help us out. As we transitioned from Mail Shop to Midnight, we had lots of questions over the first 30 to 60 days. All we had to was send an email or make a call and we usually had an answer or issue resolution within a day or two. They make this easy.”

The Midnight Print & Mail MIS experience of the Direct Connection’s team is typical of our users and available to anyone wishing to join the Virtual Systems customer base.
