VA moves to paperless system

icon bureaucracySeveral months ago, The Veterans Affairs Department (VA) announced that it would begin integrating an expedited system to cut down the amount of time it takes to process a claim. The VA finished installing its new computer system last week, and said it will help the organization clear out its backlogs and ensure streamlined activity going forward.
Called the Veterans Benefits Management System, it will be implemented in all 56 regional offices. Currently, the average time to process a claim is 292 days.The VA reported that as of June 10, it had 851,229 disability claims pending and 66.4 percent had been backlogged for more than 125 days.
